United Methodist Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee is made up of employees from the Village. We pledge  ourselves to be helpful and supportive in the communities that we serve. Our mission is to celebrate and enhance the welfare and prosperity of those communities with open hearts, open hands, and open minds, with an attitude of Christian love. We are doing many things in our community such as supporting a Food Pantry, Coat Closet, volunteer for delivery for Meals on Wheels, volunteer our services at the local Housing Authority (i.e. we call out BINGO), and donate anything we can to the Lawrence County Humane Society.

Success: Car Wash Fundraiser

We held our Annual Car Wash Fundraiser this year on Friday, July 23rd. It was a huge success! We washed about 40 cars & made $212 to go towards our Food Pantry & Coat Closet. Our Food Pantry & Coat Closet is to benefit those in need in Lawrence County. If you or someone you know is in need, please see the appropriate contact info listed below on this page.

We had lots of fun on the hot day! For those who came to have their cars washed, they could eat while they waited. We cooked hot dogs on the grill & served drinks and goodies. The food was a free will donation.

Even our Administrators came out to help.

They are always ready to work for a good cause!

  • Carol Brown, Administrator of Main Campus (pictured right)

We saw several people in the community come to the event, as well as employees, to support our cause. We even had a resident of the North Campus come out for a wash!

We hope to see you next year at our Car Wash! This year's car wash was sponsored by Glasser Funeral Home in Bridgeport, IL.

We have many different fundraisers throughout the year. Please check back periodically at our calendar of fundraisers and events below. We hope to see you at one soon!

Meals on Wheels - Senior Citizen Center

The Outreach Committee volunteers to deliver meals for the Senior Citizen's Center in Lawrenceville, Bridgeport, and Sumner. Each team goes out to deliver twice a month, which means we make six deliveries per month. The Senior Citizen's Center is always in need for volunteers to deliver meals. Times vary for pick up at each location; the number of meals change from day to day as well. Delivering for one route typically only takes an hour or less. If you would like to help out and  deliver meals, please call (618) 943-2177.

Housing Authority

The Outreach Committee goes to the Housing Authority twice a month to call BINGO for the elderly. We supply the callers, prizes, etc for the games.

Lawrence County Humane Society

The Lawrence County Humane Society is a Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) shelter which takes in, cares for, and tries to find homes for abandoned dogs and cats. They are a no-kill shelter. Animals are being brought to them in increasing numbers. Presently they are caring for 106 dogs and 52 cats. All work and administration is done by volunteers and funded only by donations and fundraisers.

Many of their animals would make wonderful pets! Stop by and see them if you are interested in adopting. They are located South of Lawrenceville off of Route 1. You will pass Ambraw Asphalt on your left then you will need to turn RIGHT on 960N. To help the Lawrence County Humane Society care for the dogs and cats, donations may be sent to:
